Following renovations, the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization was relocated to the historical hub of Sharjah on the Majarrah Waterfront. A wide range of important Islamic artefacts and manuscripts from all over the world are exhibited according to the themes over the seven galleries and display areas. The artefacts include clay, pottery and glass as well as metallic handicrafts inlaid with silver, gold and brass. There are also displays of silver and textile handicrafts, ornamentation tools, jewellery and various Islamic mints of Abba side and Omayyad eras.

The Sharjah Heritage Museum displays objects and articles that depict the culture and distinctive customs of Sharjah. This museum was originally established in 2003 and re-opened in 2012, as a part of Sharjah expansion plan. The museum is divided into six galleries that signify the various features like lifestyle, landscapes, festivals, marriages, births, burials, etc. of the people living in Sharjah over the years.

Inaugurated on 9th April 1997, the Sharjah Art Museum is a three-storied building consisting of permanent and temporary exhibitions by distinguished artists. Explore works by Oriental painters of the 18th and 19th centuries, artworks by artists from the Arab world, paintings and sculptures. The Fine Art Library of the museum holds nearly 4000 books, manuscripts and other reading material written in Arabic, English and other languages plus audio materials, internet access, a reading room and children’s corner.

To be found near the cultural square in Helwan District, the Sharjah Archaeological museum serves as a permanent location for archaeological excavations found in Sharjah. The purpose of the museum is to explain the concept of archaeology as a science with relevant displays and artefacts. The antiquities and artefacts displayed here include jewellery, coins, pottery, tools and ancient weapons used by people from the Stone Age to the present day, and they are displayed according to their chronological order in different exhibition halls.

The Sharjah Maritime Museum emphasises the maritime life of Sharjah. The museum was established in 2003 and later expanded and relocated to a place in Al Khan on 7th June, 2009. Visitors can find several interesting and enlightening objects like the seafaring dhows, Arabian pearls and also figurines, tools and techniques used in fishing, pearling and trading at sea.

Al Hisn is a two-storey fort situated in the Al Shukh district of old Sharjah. Constructed in 1820, the fort has now been converted into a museum to showcase a world of local history and charm. Exhibits include old coins and weighing scales, jewellery, arms and ammunition, a window to the pearl trade and plenty of amazing photographs and maps.

The Calligraphy Museum was founded on 12th June 2002, in Sharjah, to facilitate the evolution of the creative art of Arabic calligraphy in the region. The museum is housed in the famous Sharjah Heritage Area, also called as the Heart of Sharjah, where you will discover the magic and brilliance of local as well as international calligraphers. Various items like wood, canvas, ceramic and paper were used to create this art.
